TOP 9 - del Barco / from the Boat

Sin un orden en específico, con mucha dificultad en la selección, les compartimos lo destacado del viaje en el barco costero Hurtigruten con información que nos llamó la atención. 
Without a specific order, and with a hard time at choosing, we share the most outstanding moments on our trip on the Hurtigruten coastal steamer, with some notes about what called our attention. 

1) HURTIGRUTEN

Son 12 barcos, que juntos se aseguran de acercar a los pueblos y ciudades de la costa Noruega. Pasan diario a cada puerto y su interés principal NO es el turismo, sino la entrega de víveres, el correo y el desembarco/ embarco de gente que vive o trabaja en estos pueblos. Increíble esfuerzo, todo el año. Nuestro barco el MS Nordnorge, fue construido en los 90's y tiene siete pisos. Viajamos con más de 600 pasajeros más la tripulación y hace poco salió en un "Reality Show" que acercó a todos los noruegos a este barco y sus aventuras. 
12 boats that together make sure to bring Norway's coastal towns and cities together. Every day they arrive to each port and their main interest is not tourism, but to take food, and mail and people, that live or work in this towns. Great effort all year round. Our ship, the MS Nordnorge, was built in the 90's, and has seven decks. We travelled with more than 600 passenger, plus staff, and few months back it was on a Reality Show that brought norwegians closer to this project and daily adventure.

2) NORDKAPP

Es el punto más al norte del continente europeo. 71º 10' 21". Otros lugares a esa latitud son Alaska o Siberia. Con la diferencia de que aquí la costa no se congela, por las corrientes cálidas que con mucho gusto envía el Golfo de México... y durante todo el año uno puede navegar estos mares.  Estar tan lejos..., da una increíble sensación de victoria, ligereza, libertad y definitivamente llena los pulmones de aire fresco. (Ve el video)
- El pueblo se llama Honninsvag. - Tiene 3 policias. - En su pueblo pesquero más al norte, tienen una escuela con 5 alumnos y 5 maestros. - Hay un 2% de desempleo. - En invierno quien quiera visitar el Cabo Norte debe revisar los horarios en que sale una caravana detrás de un tractor que deberá ir quitando la nieve del camino. - Hay 3 familias Saami (indígenas noruegos del ártico) con alces, estos alces cruzan el fiordo NADANDO en otoño a tierra firme. The most northern point in the european continent. 71º 10' 21". Other places at that same latitude are Alaska and Siberia. With the difference, that the coast does not freeze because of the warm waters that are kindly sent from the Gulf of Mexico. Being so far away..., gives us an incredible feeling of victory, lightness, freedom and really fills up our lungs with fresh air. (Look at the video)
- The town is called Honninsvag. - Theres 3 policemen. - 2% unemployment. - In winter if you wish to visit North Cape you need to check the schedule to join the car caravan behind the snow tractor. -  3 Saami families (arctic indigenous norwegians) have the reindeer. These reindeers  SWIM through the fjord to mainland in Autumn. Here a picture the tour guide gave us. 

3) CIRCULO ÁRTICO / ARTICE CIRCLE

Nos dijeron que pasaríamos el Círculo Artículo el 7 de octubre entre 6:30 y 8 am. Hubo una competencia para ver quien adivinaba con mayor exactitud la hora exacta. Yo estuve más de una hora equivocada, Luzma sólo por 4 minutos.  A las 6 estábamos despiertas ya en cubierta. A las 7 nos sentamos a desayunar. A las 7:35 pasamos  y apenitas puede tomar una foto del monumento ahí. La emoción fue como cuando cruzas una gran meta,  una invisible. Recibimos un sello postal oficial en nuestros diarios y nos compramos una camiseta azul que dice "Crucé el Círculo Ártico con Hurtigruten".

We were told we'd cross the Arctic Circle on october 7th in between 6:30 and 8am. There was a competition between passsenges to see who could guess he exact hour. I was wrong for over an hour, Luzma only for 4 minutes. At 6 we where awake on the deck. At 7 we sat to have breakfast. At 7:35 we crossed, hardly had time to take a picture of the monument there. The feeling was like the one when crossing an important finish line, an invisible one. We got and official Postal Stamp printed on our diaries and bought ourselves a blue t-shirt that says "I crossed the Arctic Circle with Hurtigruten".

Al día siguiente nos invitaron al piso 4 en la cubierta a la "Ceremonia de Bautismo del Ártico". Llegó "Neptuno", dio sus bendiciones y nos vertió agua con hielos en nuestra espalda!!!! Al muy simpático amigo y guía de turistas aprovechando de mi inocencia,  se le ocurrió echarme unos hielitos adentro del pantalón...

Next day we where all invited to the deck no. 4, to the "Arctic Baptism Ceremony". "Neptune" arrived, offered his blessings and then poured ice and water on our backs!!! The tour guide and funny friend, taking advantage of me!!  thought I'd like some as well under my pants!!

4) AURORA BOREAL

Ninguna palabra puede expresar la majestuosidad de la naturaleza. Lo bendecidas que nos sentimos de haber podido presenciarlas.  La belleza. La satisfacción de tachar un renglón de nuestra lista de "Cosas que quiero hacer en esta vida". 

No words can express natures majesty. The inmense blessed feeling we have for being able to see them. Beauty. Satisfaction of eliminating one item from our "bucket list" of "Things I want to do in this life time".

5) CULTURA LOCAL / LOCAL CULTURE

En Tromso fuimos afortunadas de conocer a una amiga de una amiga... Inger, que es física y trabaja en el Instituto Polar de Noruega, nos paseó por el Museo Polaris y una exhibición de los exploradores noruegos Nansen y Amundsen en el Museo Polar UIT y aprendimos acerca de los peces locales, las focas, la increíble habilidad de los Saami por sobrevivir esas heladas temperaturas y lo vital que fue para  los exploradores aprende de ellos cómo vestirse en capas ligeras y ventiladas, qué comida llevar, cómo empacar, cómo usar trineos, construir kayaks y muchos trucos mas. 
Nos llevó después a un lejano punto donde se encuentran tallados en piedra de hace mas de 10 mil años. Hermosas representaciones de personas, animales, vida cotidiana. Vimos las imágenes con 1º de temperatura y con una leve nevada.

In Tromso we where very fortunate to meet a friend of a friend.... Inger, physicist at the Norwegian Polar Institute. She took us to the Polaris Museum and to an exhibit about the norwegian explorers Nansen and Amundsen in the Polar Museum UIT. We learnt about the local fish, the seals, the incredible ability of Saami people to survive the freezing temperatures, and the importance of having learnt from them how to dress in several layers of light ventilated clothes, what food to take, how to pack it, how to build and use snow sledges, build kayaks and many more tricks. 
She took us to a more remote place where we saw the wall cravings dating back for 10,000 years. Lovely images of people, animals, daily life. We where there at 1º and with some snow. 






6) PAISAJES / SCENERY

Bellísimos paisajes del cielo, las montañas, los fiordos, los amaneceres y los atardeceres. Cambiando minuto a minuto. Imposible asimilarlo todo, menos aún fotografiarlo.  

Beautiful landscapes, skyscapes, fjords, sunsets, sunrises. Changing minute by minute. Impossible to grasp all of it in, and much less to take photos of all of it.

7) BUENA COMPAÑIA / GOOD COMPANY

Definitivamente con quién se viaja es vital para la experiencia del viaje. Ni se diga... yo viajo con con lo mejor de lo mejor. 

Absolutely true that with you travel with is essential for the experience of the trip. I must say... I am travelling with the best of the best.

8) NORUEGOS / NORWEGIANS
Es un país con clima frío. Nevadas y lluvia. Inviernos largo. 
Sus corazones demuestran lo contrario: son personas cálidas, generosas, con gran sentido del humor. Amor por la vida, por la naturaleza. Compartiendo su país, tradiciones y puntos de vista libremente. 
Nos caen bien los norueg@s. 

It's a country with a cold weather. Snow and rain. Long winters. 
Their hearts show the opposite: warm people, generous, with a great sense of humor. Love for life and for nature. Willing to share their country, traditions and points of view freely. 
We like norwegians!

9) ÚLTIMO PERO NO MENOS IMPORTANTE / LAST BUT OT LEAST

Una gran cosa acerca de noruega es que definitivamente volveremos. 
One best thing about Norway: We are definitely coming back. 


Ahora estamos en Bergen, después de la boda a la que fuimos invitadas, por lo que todo este viaje se dio.
Erik y Grethe, gracias por invitarnos, sugerir, planear, hospedarnos y vestirnos. NADA de esto habría sucedido sin su amistad, su viaje a México y sus GRANDES corazones.


Hoy estaremos reordenando la maleta y  la mente. Mañana comenzamos el viaje a la India.

Today we will be putting some order to our luggage and our minds, since tomorrow we start our trip to India
